Gators safety intercepts dead woman's credit card
Could I have been mistaken in assuming all college athletes got cash, cars and other unmentionables under the table? Either that's the case, or (former) Florida Gators safety Jamar Hornsby just wasn't satisfied with his freebies. Yesterday the 21-year-old junior turned himself in to face charges of using a dead woman's credit card. Even worse, the woman was the girlfriend of one of his teammates and died in a motorcycle accident along with another teammate, Eric Guilford, in October of last year.
Wow. It seems athletes are getting picked up on all sorts of weird crimes these days (here's another one of my favourites), but this one takes the cake. Seriously -- this guy makes DeShawn Stevenson look like a saint. Even Michael Vick and Elijah Dukes are shaking their heads at this one.
Hornsby, who was used mainly on special teams in his two seasons with the Gators, was kicked off the team by coach Urban Meyer. According to several sources, he's planning on using his free time to advise fellow college athletes how to properly style their cornrows in pony tails for their team profile pictures.
